East London, the edgier side of town, has rapidly become a hub for art, culture, and exciting new developments. From the iconic street art of Shoreditch to the redevelopment in Stratford, there’s tons to do and see.  Whether you’re into quirky cafés, trendy pop-ups, sporting venues, or shopping, East London has the answer.  And when it comes to accommodation, the area offers a range of stylish, budget-friendly hotels with jaw-dropping views for you to choose from. I stayed and reviewed 3 hotels in East London, so you can take your pick for your next visit to this dynamic part of the city.

Hyatt Place London City East: A Sustainable Stay with Stunning Views

If you’re looking for a sustainable, mid-range hotel with spectacular views, Hyatt Place London City East will blow you away. This eco-conscious hotel is located moments from Brick Lane with easy access to the City and Shoreditch.

Room 802 is the one you want to book, with its dual aspect windows and balcony, you’ll have panoramic views of the city, including Canary Wharf’s striking skyline. Imagine waking up to the sunrise over East London or watching the sunset paint the city in shades of pink and gold. It was a dopamine moment that I will not forget, and a great feature of a hotel at this price point.

If, like me, you can feel a little lazy and want to stay in after a day’s sightseeing, this hotel has the rooftop bar Pocketsquare serving a range of delicious cocktails and Italian-themed bar snacks.  Downstairs, you can order a Sicilian feast from Sotto, their on-site restaurant.

Hyatt London Stratford: A touch of luxury

If you are planning a stay in Stratford, look no further than the Hyatt London Stratford.  A more sophisticated, luxurious experience, this stylish hotel not only offers incredible views of West Ham Stadium but also places you at the heart of one of East London’s most exciting, rapidly developing areas. With brilliant travel links via Stratford International, it’s the perfect base for exploring the many new openings and attractions in the area.

With the V&A Museum of Design opening this Summer and new restaurants such as Hera opening all the time, you might be surprised what you find in Stratford these days.  The hotel is conveniently situated within the massive Westfield Shopping Centre.  You are steps away from all the amenities the area has to offer.

The rooms here have a contemporary art deco, modern vibe with Crittall-style bathrooms and brushed metal finishings as a nod to the area’s industrial roots.

This is one hotel where you won’t want to skip the gym.  Situated on the 12th floor, you will experience stunning views of the London skyline.

They have recently opened a stunning terrace on which to enjoy your morning coffee or a sundowner.  I highly recommend the Elondi restaurant, where I experienced one of the best burrata starters of my life.

Aloft London ExCel: Comfort, Style, and Convenience

For those visiting the ExCeL Centre or anyone looking for a comfortable yet affordable stay in East London, Aloft London ExCeL is a solid choice. Located right next to the ExCeL Centre, this hotel is ideal for business travelers and event-goers, offering large, stylish rooms equipped with huge beds, flat-screen TVs, and plenty of space to relax.

With a large gym and a pool, Aloft offers everything you need to unwind after a day of meetings or exhibitions, and the beds were noticeably comfortable for a hotel at this price point.  Once I had set up the Chromecast on the massive TV, it was hard to leave.

With easy access to the DLR and London Underground, you’ll be able to hop onto public transport and reach destinations like Canary Wharf, the O2, and the heart of the city in no time.
